There are so many non-dairy milks on the market! How do you know which one is the “healthiest”? Here is a quick breakdown on different milk products (compared in 8 oz servings)
- Pea Milk: 100 calories/ 8g of protein
- Soy Milk: 100 calories/ 7g of protein
- Peanut Milk 150 calories/ 6g of protein
- Almond Milk (Unsweetened): 30 calories/ 2g of protein
- Rice Milk: 120 calories/ 1g of protein ( HIGH CARBS)
- Macadamia Milk (Never knew this existed) 50 calories/ 1g of protein
- Coconut Milk: 80 calories/ 0g of protein
- Cashew Milk ( Unsweetened) 25 calories/ 0g of protein
➡ The nut milks are made with ground nuts (almond, peanut, cashew, macadamia) and filtered water. Most of them add thickeners to create the consistency and fortify with minerals.
➡ Soy milk is made from soybeans and filtered water. Not that different than the way nut milks are made. Unsurprisingly, coconut milk is made from filtered water and coconut cream!
👀 The question still is “which one is healthier”? I would say there’s no difference! Pick the one you think tastes the best.
I personally go for the milk with the most protein! I am always looking for ways to sneak more protein in.
