Cheat Meals

What is a cheat meal?

Meals that contain more calories than you’re allowed based off your BMR ( Base Metabolic Rate).

Are cheat meals beneficial for weight loss?

They are not beneficial when you are exceeding your calorie limit. To lose weight you want to make sure you are in a caloric deficit. How do you know if you are in a deficit? First, start off by figuring out your BMR, use the calculator at the end of the page. Once you have that number, you want to subtract 200 calories.

Example:

1,400 (BMR) – 200 = 1,200 calories

1,200 calories would be my calorie limit. Eating more calories will decrease my chances of weight loss

How do you make your “cheat meal” work?

You can make your cheat meal work by saving calories. Doing so allows your high-calorie meal to fit into your “caloric budget”.  If I know I am going to eat Five Guys Burgers and Fries for dinner, I chose to eat a very low-calorie breakfast and lunch.

Example:

3 Egg whites for breakfast = 51

1 can of Tuna for lunch = 100

Five Guys little cheeseburger & little fries for dinner = 1,000

Calories for the day = 1,151

Calorie limit = 1,200

I was able to have my “cheat meal” and stay within my calories.
